January 2011 Security Bulletin Release

Hello - Today as part of our monthly security bulletin release we have two bulletins addressing three vulnerabilities in Microsoft Windows and Windows Server. This first bulletin is rated Important, while the second is rated Critical. MS11-001. This bulletin resolves one reported issue rated Important and affecting Windows Vista. This security bulletin addresses a vulnerability in Windows Backup Manager.

Hello, Today we published the December 2010 Security Bulletin Webcast Questions & Answers page. We fielded 17 questions, most concerning the Internet Explorer update and the re-releases of bulletins this month. We invite our customers to join us for the next public webcast on Wednesday, January 12 at 11am PST (-8 UTC), when we will go into detail about the December bulletin release and answer questions live on the air.

December 2010 Security Bulletin Release

Hi everyone. As part of our usual cycle of monthly security updates, today Microsoft is releasing 17 bulletins addressing 40 vulnerabilities in Microsoft Windows, Office, Internet Explorer, SharePoint Server and Exchange. Two of those bulletins carry a Critical rating, while 14 are rated Important and one is rated Moderate. We’ve assigned our highest deployment priority to the two Critical bulletins, though we recommend that customers deploy all updates as soon as possible.

Hi everyone, With this month’s bulletin release, I want to highlight the great work done through our partnerships in the Microsoft Active Protections Program (MAPP). MAPP represents our commitment to community based defense and a shared sense of responsibility to help protect the computing ecosystem. In July of this year, the Stuxnet malware emerged onto the threat landscape and resulted in the release of an out-of-band security update, MS10-046, to address a zero-day vulnerability the malware used to compromise systems.

Hello - Today we’re releasing our Advance Notification Service (ANS) for the September Security Bulletins, which are scheduled for release Tuesday, September 14, 2010. This is a service we provide to help enterprises plan and prepare for the upcoming security bulletin release. This month we will be releasing 9 bulletins addressing 13 11 vulnerabilities affecting Windows, Internet Information Services (IIS), and Microsoft Office.

Hello all. As part of our usual cycle of monthly updates, today Microsoft is releasing 14 security bulletins, addressing 34 vulnerabilities. Eight of those bulletins have a Critical severity rating, and we consider four of those to be high-priority deployments: MS10-052 This bulletin resolves a privately reported vulnerability in Microsoft’s MPEG Layer-3 audio codecs.
